My name is Karen Nevins, and I am honored and excited to serve as FES Assistant Principal this year. This is my 13th year in FISD, where I have worked as an Instructional Coach and kindergarten teacher. It is my mission to nurture a positive culture where students are inspired to love learning, teachers, and staff flourish, and relationships with families and the community thrive.
I grew up in a military family, so I’ve had the joy of discovering many places: Colorado, Texas, Virginia, North Carolina, and New Mexico. I wasn’t born in Texas, but I consider it HOME! Outside of school, my focus is on my faith and my family. I can usually be found enjoying the outdoors, being crafty, relaxing with a good book, or cheering on the Texas Longhorns football and Billies tennis team! My family includes my husband, Chris, and my three children, Brooke-23, Claire- 20, and Reid-17. Along with our dog, Sonny, we share land with several miniature donkeys, goats, cattle, and ranch cats.
I look forward to an exciting year with our FES family!
